Plumbing woes

Umm yeah. Squeezing into bathroom cabinets and laying underneath sinks SUCK!! What sucks even more is trying to install faucets and drains when you're just learning... It goes something like this:

...and this washer goes... here? Then this goes... like this? I think...

*crawls into bathroom cabinet*

Shit, where did I put that washer!"

*crawls back out then realizes it was right next to me, in the cabinet, the whole time*

Damn it!

*crawls back in*

*hits head then elbow on edge of cabinet*

Ouch.

Ummm, where's the wrench? $%#@!

*crawls back out to retrieve wrench. crawls back in*

Grrrr...

*finally gets washer, nut, and rubber thingamajig in proper order*

*confidently tightens nuts & bolts*

*crawls out to check on work. sees faucet handles facing random directions*

Simultaneous shoulder drop, head back, closed eye sigh

*crawls back to loosen everything*

*crawls back out to align faucet handles*

*crawls back in to roughly tightens nuts & bolts without rotating handles*

*crawls back out to check work*

Looks good!

*crawls back in. bangs elbow on cabinet again*

*screws everything in place, tightly*

*crawls back out to check work. turns faucet handles*

FUCK! They're turning the wrong way! The hot and cold are flip flopped!!

*undoes everything. gives up. takes indefinite break*

The bright side is, I'm working muscles I didn't know I had. I need a massage...

Feeling hot hot hot

High: 109 °F

RealFeel: 117 °F

Kill me now!

Project Bathroom is rolling. Martin the counter guy will be installing new counter tops and sinks in all 3 of my bathrooms this Saturday. He would have done it last week if I had gotten all my sinks.

I've decided to do the plumbing myself (installing sink drain and faucets.) Never done that one before. Doesn't seem like rocket science, but the physical positioning of ones body underneath the sink seems challenging. Should be a story in itself when I'm done.

Few lukewarm prospects on MenFarmForMe.com. Not very motivated in the boy department lately. The heat, remodeling, and 3-week vacation on the mind...

Q: What's an eBastard?
A: An eBay Seller who claims to combine shipping/handling but charges $12(USD) to ship a necklace & earrings set.

* Confused as to which buyer he's bashing. Was meant for another item and buyer.
** Not true. I asked after I won both items. My bad. Lesson learned.
*** Sellers who make their $$ from S/H instead of from the actual items suck. Don't ever count on them to combine S/H. Duh. My bad, again. Lesson learned, again.

Ahhhhhh.... BLOW OUT!

Last night, Artsy Gal and I went to a show here and saw him, along with him and him and a surprise appearance by her. I *heart* sappy musician boys with their poetic lyrics. I don't think I can ever handle a relationship with such sensitive and sentimental things, but the idea is nice...

Let me disclose some annoying traits of fellow concert goers:

  • Clapping during a song without prompting by the performer(s).
  • Worse, clapping off beat. (Bless little Ben's humor, he chuckled and said, "Are you guys even clapping to what I'm playing, 'cuz it's sounding a little crazy out there.")
  • At pivotal and intentional moments of musical pause, propositioning one's body to host the performer's offspring.
  • Cheering that sounds like the last cries of a painfully dying animal.
  • Neighbors' obsessive checking of their cell/mobile phone.
  • Smelly Emo kids. (You can use store-bought products instead of real accumulated hair grease for styling!)
There, I feel better...

The show was great regardless. All acoustic and our seats were kick ass!

Beforehand, we met up with OCG for dinner here, then I finally got to try this. I've heard rave reviews after rave reviews about Pinkberry. Maybe it's because I was freezing that made the treat not as great, I dunno. Maybe it's because I was expecting a more creamy consistency. Maybe. It was just okay for me.

Anyhoo, the fun story. So we drive home after the show, and when we got about 2 miles from my offramp, it felt like I was "driving by braille", but I was perfectly centered in the middle of lane. Then it dawned on me... Oh Shit! My tire!!!

It's never happened to me before, but High School Driver's Ed Class must have done its job. Without hesitance, I quickly crossed 3 lanes and pulled over on the side of the freeway.

Artsy Gal: "What happened?!"
Me: "My tire blew out!
Artsy Gal: "What??"
Me: "Get out and check! It's on your side. I don't know if it's the front one or the back one!"

As soon as she opens her door, the thick smell of burnt rubber tire invades the car interior.

Artsy Gal: "OMG it's the back one and smoke is coming out of it!!"
Me: "It's not on fire, is it?!"
Artsy Gal: "No, no!" Whew!

I contemplated for 2 nanoseconds on changing the tire myself, until I thought, I've been paying AAA for how many years?! Oh, they're coming to change it for me.

For 40 minutes, Artsy Gal and I listened to music and played the game of "Worst Scenario Right Before The Tire Blows Out."

Artsy Gal: "I think we should break up... *POP! thud thud thud...*"
Me: "Driving home from a first date and your dinner didn't agree with you. You now have the rumblings of explosive diarrhea... *POP! thud thud thud...*"

I *heart* potty humor.

It took no time for Randy to change out the tire with my donut of a spare. It's all about having the right tools...

Upon daylight inspections of the remaining 3 tires, it's time to just replace all 4 tires. Every girl's shopping dream... Oh yeah, 195/60R15, come to mamma!!

Don't name your band Snow

I love music! I don't think there's a genre of music I don't like. Challenge me... What sometimes kills a song or band for me is the music videos. Examples:

1. I liked this song until I saw his crazy scary baldness.

2. Remember him?

3. I don't think you can get anymore literal. Lay where? No thanks... Suggestion, stick to singing and hire an actor?

BTW, why is Sanjaya still on American Idol. I can only imagine that votefortheworst.com is working for him to not even be on the "bottom three"? He seems to be enjoying the heck out of dressing up and having new dos, eh?

On the other hand, if you want to see a great Indie band, check them out. I'll be at their show tonight. Yippey!

Artsy Gal and I spent several hours last night practicing our belly dancing craft and attempting to come up with more choreography. In between her hubby mocking us and her 2 adorable kids thinking it's play time, we got little done. I have a sinking feelin' our first performance might be laughable. *throws up a little bit in mouth* We really need to get in gear and practice at mi casa instead...

In good ol' retard fashion, nothin' happening on the boy front. Quite frankly, I'm too busy with other stuff to even think about it. OCG and I have been alternately and overlappingly sick, so nights out for boy huntin' have been lacking. Don't ask about MenFarmForMe.com

Aren't they the cutest?!

I love dogs as much as I love kids. I love to be the Auntie. I visit, I play with them, I leave the discipline & clean up to the parents, I go home without them.

I'm sick at home today, with full body ache and a blazing throat. So pardon my mood...

For the past hour, my neighbor's dog has been barking non-stop. (BTW, why is the decibel level of barking inversely proportionate to the size of the dog?) Once every 10 minutes or so, abrupt silence makes me giddy that there's hope for permanent tranquility. Nope, the dog must have just taken a brief break... Crap.

Observing friends that are parents to dogs, some don't seem to appreciate the perspective of non-parents. We want silence. We want sound boundaries. Your dog barking outside, while you neglect them for your morning routine is like me blaring my music every morning. It's not nice. It's like taking a big poop on my silence sanctuary. I. Just. Want. Peace and quiet.

The worse part, you hope, with all hope, that the parents are just occupied with their morning routine, and haven't (please oh please) already left for work, leaving their children dog(s) outside for the day.
